A good idea stuck in spreadsheets
D-ICE Engineering wanted to offer its clients a routing tool: finding the best route for a ship according to the weather.
The calculation existed, but it ran on spreadsheets and Power BI. Weather data was imported by hand. There were calculation errors, nothing to visualise a route, and comparing two routes was a headache. A study took several days. Impossible to put it in a client's hands.
Taking over the existing tool and turning it into a product
This was not about starting from a blank page. A first tool existed: we took it over to complete it and make it ready to roll out to D-ICE's clients.
